Brilliant is a beautifully finished Downeast cruiser that was completed and launched in July 2009. She was molded in 1999 from the molds of the Five Islands 35, designed by Royal Lowell. Fred Beaman, an experienced marine craftsman, spent 10 years finishing her in exquisite detail during his summers in Maine. Systems such as wiring, electronics installations, and metal fabrication were completed by the best of marine professionals.
The engine is a Caterpillar 3116 diesel producing 300hp @ 2800 rpm's. It has 300 hours of running time on it from a previous installation. Properly stored during Brilliant's construction, it started perfectly. The transmission is a new twin disc 507 with 2:1 reduction.
The layout is open and spacious, and a canvas drop curtain opens the cabin to the large cockpit. Cruising couples will appreciate the wide and low v-berth, the head with separate shower area, and the large galley. A dinette in the deckphouse coverts to a double berth. A propane newport cabin heater is perfect for early or late season cruising.
Brilliant is fully equipped with radar, chartplotter, VHF radio, stereo, etc., all ground tackle and safety gear. Commissioned and ready to cruise.
